"La Madonnina del Duomo di Milano"
The Madonnina is universally known as the symbol of the Milanese Cathedral since 1774, the year in which she was placed a top the Main Spire. She has always been an emblem of protection for theMilanese, who over the years have dedicated their popular songs and poems to her and have turned
to her during their darkest moments.
The statue, over 4.16 metres tall, was designed by Giuseppe Perego and it is composed of an internal
skeleton that supports the structure, today in steel but iron in the past, and numerous copper plates gilded in 24-carat gold.
