Milan Duomo is the only gothic cathedral in which the rooftops were designed from the outset to be walked on, so that the particular details of the splendid marble decorations and the entire panorama of the city could be admired from up close. In the 1920s, a real refreshment stand was put up at the foot of the Main Spire, an exclusive meeting point for the Milanese and tourists.
Even today, the Duomo's Rooftops continue to be a privileged venue for cultural events, concerts, and
art installations.
