The terraces of the Cathedral have always been, over the centuries, a meeting place, of coexistence and conviviality: a sort of raised square, from which to admire the beauty of the sculptures of the cathedral and the breadth of the city skyline.
Tourists of the 19th century, like the gentlemen immortalized here, witnessed the completion of the decoration of the spiers and roofs of the Cathedral, completed in the 19th century. In the background of this portrait, for example, we note the lack of statues on the large windows of the lantern, which will be put in place only in 1857.
